Hongfa: The World’s Largest Relay Maker Behind Our HV DC Contactors
When a DC contactor sits between a battery pack and a 1500 V bus, “brand” stops being marketing and becomes a risk decision. Hongfa is the supplier we build that decision on.
Founded in Xiamen more than forty years ago and listed in Shanghai, Hongfa is now the largest relay manufacturer in the world by revenue and share — over 27% of the global relay market, held every year since 2017. It runs a “3+N” footprint across the Xiamen–Zhangzhou, eastern and western China bases plus Indonesia and Europe, with total assets above RMB 26 billion.
Scale matters less to us than what sits behind it. Hongfa makes its own precision parts, contacts and even the automation equipment that assembles the relays, so the chain is vertically integrated rather than bought in — which shows up as stable lead times, traceable quality on sealed HV DC devices, and room to scale when a programme doubles.
The families we stock
- HFE82V (1000 VDC) — 100 A to 500 A continuous, ceramic-brazed hermetic chamber, IP67, 12 or 24 VDC coil.
- HFE88P (1500 VDC) — 400 A, 600 A, 750 A for storage containers and fast-charging cabinets.
- HFE85V — double-coil energy-saving versions, e.g. 300 A at 1000 VDC with auxiliary contact.
Capacity that is still growing
In September Hongfa ranked 65th on China’s Top 100 Electronic Information Competitiveness list, up eight places year on year. Weeks later the main structure of its Haicang Lingang Industrial Park was completed: RMB 998 million invested, 265,000 m², production from March 2027 and a planned annual output of RMB 2.5 billion — aimed at EV components, storage products, industrial relays and wind/solar electronics.
